To return or not - that is the question!

Hi all -

I thought I had a cracked windshield washer reservoir. All the water had
drained out right after the first frost last fall. I ran w/o the washer
during the winter. I moved and changed jobs this spring and finally this
week I ordered a new reservoir from the local Toyota dealer. It came in and
tonight I set about replacing it - something to do while I waited for the
oil to drain and the engine to cool enough to replace the filter.

When I dropped the fender liner I saw that one of the hoses had slipped off
the pump. Unlike the plastic hose that is fairly permanently ossified onto
it's nipple this one is rubber - softened no doubt by an oil or P/S leak. I
clamped it on, filled the tank, and it was as good as new.

The new tank is still in its wrapping.

I've never had this happen before so I'd like to know the advisability of
trying to return a special ordered part to a dealer. The price was about
$47 so I'll 'eat' it if returning it would likely jeopardize my
'relationship' there. I have other parts on order and more to come.

So, besides calling me 'dipstick' what do you have to say about my
predicament?

Please be gentle.

Thanks!

- Bill
