You can lower your car without coilovers by using springs. My first Sup had 
Eibach's on it. They lowered the car 25mm in the front and 35mm in the rear. 
The ride was harsh, for me, but I liked the look better than my present set 
up which consists of HKS's springs which lowers it 25 mm front and 5mm rear. 
Both cars had KYB adjustables on them and I have no problem with them at 
all. I will go to Tein's in the future I think.  Cost is the main issue with 
me. Have been told that they are much more noisy (especially with pillow 
mounts), but others that have them might comment.   Hope this helps.  Good
